Coffee as a Hobby?
I'm a massive coffee person. Even though I deny my reliance on it, I think I may be addicted. Is being dependent on coffee a bad thing? I always hear people say that it's bad for your health, but I continue to believe that this is a myth... (I mean, I could easily search this up myself, but I'm scared that the people are right)
That being said, beyond the delicious taste of a well-made cup of coffee, I think it offers so much more.
Let me elaborate! I believe "coffee" can technically be a hobby. At least, I fully believe that it's one of my hobbies. I drink coffee every day, I go out to coffee shops at least twice a week (local coffee shops only!), and I'm always looking for the next best coffee beans in town. If these things were separated, I think they would technically just be "tasks" or "activities", but when put together, the coffee hobby is born.
Coffee represents more than just a blackish-brown caffeinated beverage. Coffee, to me, serves as a medium for social context/interaction: Need to study? Go to a coffee shop. Need to meet up with someone? Go to a coffee shop. Need to take a break and go for a walk? You guessed it – go to a coffee shop.
Quick side note: I don't even drink coffee for the caffeine; matter of fact is that I don't even notice the effects of caffeine.
My love of coffee fuels the dream of opening up a quaint little café (maybe in the future?). Whenever I hear about a new coffee shop opening up, I am instantly filled with excitement.
However, the reality of running a coffee shop is no joke. It is easy to romanticize, but the truth is these places are extremely tough to run. Running a successful coffee shop in particular, is ridiculously difficult. This gives me an even bigger justification to buy coffee from local coffee shops :) Even though tons of people see buying coffee from coffee shops as a waste of money, I just can't bring myself to stop, and I don't think that I ever will.

Cortado (or as the French call it: Noisette) purchased from a quaint café in in Paris called Ten Belles. I unfortunately dropped this cute lil drink shortly after taking the picture.
p.s. if you are ever staying in Paris, I highly recommend staying in the 10e arrondissement!
